The Mission of the Church
This half term our topic is The Mission of the Church. So far we have engaged in a deep discussion about why Peter was chosen to be the leader of the Church. We have also written in role as a disciple and discussed how they felt when Jesus appeared to them. We had lots of fun recording a news report about what happened when The Holy Spirit came.
This may take several minutes. Once the processing is complete, the video will be shown here.

Year of Mercy Statue
The Year of Mercy statue came to spend some time with us at St Joseph's. We completed some work about the statue. We sketched and painted the statue and wrote the Acts of Mercy on hearts to display in our classroom. This means that we can use the display as a reminder of how God wants us to behave.
Hinduism Week
During world religions week at school Class 2 explored Hinduism. We looked at how their beliefs, culture and lives compare and contrast to ours. We had lots of fun playing top trumps with Hindu God cards. We also painted henna tattoos on each other's arms. We sampled hindu cuisine as we made curry, it was scrumptious!
Prayer and Liturgy
In Class 2 we really enjoy our Prayer and Liturgy sessions. Miss Smith leads the session on a Tuesday and we take it in turns to plan the next session for the Thursday. We like to use role play in our sessions and we also love singing our favourite hymns.
Castlerigg
Castlerigg came into school and worked with us for a morning on the Corporal Acts of Mercy. We completed a comic of the Prodigal Son and discussed the links to Acts of Mercy. We also made mercy doors where we included all of the Acts of Mercy. They also gave us the symbol of the Year of Mercy on a large piece of card, we are going to put a finger print on each time we are merciful like the Father.
Year of Mercy Week
Class 2 had lots of fun in the Year of Mercy week. We acted out examples of different Acts of Mercy. We also made windows and drew a picture of what we might see if we looked out at an Act of Mercy. Come and have a look at our Mercy Door on the classroom door that we all contributed to! We also made some Year of Mercy games and took them home with our families to teach them about the Corporal Acts of Mercy.
Jesus the Saviour
During this topic we have looked at the different sacrifices Jesus made for us. We have created Holy Week diaries and explored the sacrifices made throughout the Holy Week.
Jesus the Teacher
We have really enjoyed this topic! We have learned about lots of different parables that Jesus told us to teach us different lessons. We particularly like the Unforgiving Servant and the Good Samaritan. We have discussed how we can show that we are listening to Jesus' teachings in our daily lives.
Trust in God
Throughout the second half term in Autumn our topic is Trust in God. We have spent a lot of time discussing the importance of trusting in God. We have also thought about how we sometimes find it difficult to trust in God and what might help us to overcome this.
The Bible
During the first half term in Autumn our topic has been The Bible. We have looked at the different parts of The Bible and are working on our Bible skills.
